Hair

Strandbase Hair

Strandbased hair in Blender is created by a hair (or fur) curve object and styled/deformed by dedicated geometry nodes.

Important: To make the hair attached to the surface of the object, it has to fullfill several requirements:

  • The hair curve object needs to be parented to the surface object
  • The object data of the hair curve object needs to reference the surface object hair_curve_data
  • The hair curve object needs to have a Surface Deform modifier assigned, preferably as the last modifier in the stack. hair_curve_modifier
  • If the surface object contains shape keys, make sure "Add Rest Position" is activated in the shape key options. This is set by default when creating new objects, but as this is a recent development, older objects might have this deactivated. hair_curve_shapekey
